I remember, as child, thinking sunsets were magic. I wished on them like other kids might wish on dandelions or fallings stars and waited anxiously for the end of each day so I could see the sky turn shades of pink and purple. Nothing this beautiful, this lovingly crafted, this artfuly created, could be anything short of magical.
I stumbled upon Mary Oliver when the magic of sunsets had become commonplace and the little things that once seemed so fantastic were taken for granted. Often, we forget the magic of the everyday - life goes by fast and there's so much to do, it's easy to overlook the things that make living such a wonderous, miraculous thing. Her poetry reawakened in me the desire to experience life as a series of small miracles, to search for and recognize the magic of the world around me. Now, when I watch sunsets, I can't help but to think of her words.

Sunset Quotations features my very favorite sunsets, captured on my phone and felt on my soul, and the quotes that were in my mind as I saw them. My hope is that you, too, can begin to look for the magic in your everyday life.
So I invite you to take a breath, watch the sun set, and think of poetry.
